Meet Thomas from the Findustrial Team!

Thomas Kofler joined our team first as advisor in internet platforms in January 2020 and becomes later the advisor for platform development. Thomas drives the software-based implementation of our platform.

But now let him tell for himself:

Who are you?

My name is Thomas Kofler. I studied extra occupational Software Engineering at FH Hagenberg and completed my PhD in Computer Science on the Technical University of Munich. I am glad that I’ve the chance to bring in a few of the insights I have gathered in the last years to help Findustrial to realize our ambitioned plans.

What’s the best thing about your job?

I am strategic advisor in software architecture and software engineering in our project. Software Engineering is like playing Lego. It is building whatever you can think of and watch it (unfortunately) slowly come to reality. Therefore, my job is like playing a game, where I have the chance to even modify the stones where everything is built of.

Why do you think the pay-per-use market will develop in the upcoming months and years and thereby drive the use of the Findustrial platform?

Based on fundamental change of business models in a widespread area of domains, for me it is a logical implication that pay-per-use is coming to the industrial domain. I’m convinced that we are still at the beginning of elementary shift of how we use our machines, and in which matter of course we will apply modern data-based analysis not only for pay-per-use but for a whole area of application domains that simply come along with our solution.

What do you say about your team?

One of the greatest things of our team is, that ideas doesn’t stop to flow. Of course, dealing with each other in a young team that has ambitions is also inspiring.

What is your greatest strength?

Oh, what a good question for an application interview. I get to the bottom of things. This is my greatest strength. I like analysing problems to gain a deep understanding of the underlying mechanics and fundamental rules of an application domain.

What is your favourite quote that you would like to share with us at the end?

“The limits of my language stand for the limits of my world.” Ludwig Wittgenstein.

A great Austrian philosopher. And one of the fathers of logic. He teaches me in his work how to argue based on words that build upon using logic expressions. The problem is that the expressiveness of my vocabulary is limiting the possible worlds I can describe using this vocabulary.
